The Kinze family bought the car wash in Rastatt in 1998. At that time, they were already operating a well-run petrol station in Dortmund with its own car wash from the company Kleindienst. Ralph Kinze Jr., however, had no idea what was in store for him when he started up his new business in Rastatt.
The car wash reopened in Rastatt under Ralph Kinze's management and its old name "VIP Autowaschsalon" on 2 June 1998. "It wasn't easy at first," recounts Ralph Kinze. After cleaning just eight cars on his first Saturday, he felt compelled to take action, and distributed flyers in the city centre as well as in the neighbouring residential areas. "It was exhausting, but I had to find a way to get people to come to the industrial estate of 'Untere Wiesen' to wash their car with me." Looking back, he has done a fine job of that, and has now been running his VIP Autowaschsalon with ambition, top quality and a good sense of humour for 25 years, earning the nick "Waschbär" (German for raccoon; literal translation: wash bear) among locals in the process.
The Kinze family has operated a total of three car washes to date – all from the company California-Kleindienst, which merged with WESUMAT in 2000 to form WashTec Holding. Today, WashTec is the world market leader in the car wash business. The family has remained loyal to WashTec products for over 35 years.
In 2003, the wash bay was extended by ten metres and equipped with a SoftTecs WS 100. In 2015, it was extended again by a further 16 metres to accommodate new car wash technology, a new water conditioning system and central vacuum, as well as an extension of the chain shaft to a total length of 36 metres.
Since the second rebuild, Ralph Kinze, with his two long-standing employees, has been operating his conveyor tunnel system exclusively with high-quality and environmentally friendly washing chemicals from AUWA - "... and that out of utmost conviction!", says Kinze. For him, quality, progress and the best possible customer benefits are central to his corporate philosophy.
