The company Oest Tankstellen GmbH & Co.KG has its headquarters in Freudenstadt, in the heart of the Black Forest. As the founding partner of Deutsche AVIA, the petrol station network of the Freudenstadt-based company today comprises almost 100 AVIA stations with various operator models. So it is hardly surprising that after the first title win in 2017 for the retro petrol station of Avia OEST in Freudenstadt-Kniebis, another award "Petrol Station of the Year 2022" in the category "Shop" went to the Avia petrol station in Dornhan. The well-known Black Forest petrol station stands out with its "Dorflädle & Stüble" (village shop and cafe), which focuses on regionality and sustainability.
"In addition to the demand for quality, progress and the best possible customer benefits, sustainability is at the heart of our corporate philosophy" says Ann-Cheryl Römpp, who is responsible for the Non Fuel Business at Oest, explaining the company's interest in an environmentally friendly car wash.
"As a company, we bear responsibility for our environment and the generations to come," Ann-Cheryl Römpp says during our conversation. "Sustainability was one of the decisive factors for us in choosing AUWA. Perfect washing performance and environmental protection should not be contradictory" is the reason for her decision in favour of AUWA Chemie and adds: "AUWA is a pioneer when it comes to environmental protection and sustainability. We are working on these topics with our shop concepts and already use RECUP deposit mugs and a sustainable reusable system. We are all the more pleased that with AUWA Chemie we now also have an opportunity to show appropriate commitment in the car wash sector and to set ourselves apart from our competitors."
In addition, the industry will be more concerned with the topics mentioned over the coming years and it is likely that there will be stricter guidelines and requirements. These will make the car wash business rethink its approach to chemical car washing.
Sustainability and environmental protection will also be increasingly in demand in the car wash industry in the future; stricter legal guidelines and specifications are only a matter of time. A rethink regarding chemical car washing is long overdue.
The idea of sustainability is becoming more and more deeply rooted among consumers, as well as among companies such as AUWA Chemie, a subsidiary of the WashTec Group. Two large banners reading "Clean Cars – Clean Environment" are used at the AVIA petrol station to draw attention to the topic of sustainability and environmental protection.
